Calahonda is arranged among Marbella and Fuengirola and is a region mainly created for the travel industry, with broad condo squares and timeshare offices extending from the coast into the slopes behind. This coastal urbanization owes its name to the same Calahonda beach, the largest and most populated since the 1960s.
One of its main characteristics is its population mostly by citizens of northern Europe, attracted by the charm of the area and the peaceful microclimate of the place. There are a number of Chiringuitos (beach restaurants) dotted along the beach.
